No Excuse If Srebrenica Working Group Fails to Complete Its Work Successfully

Senior Deputy High Representative (SDHR) Martin Ney met today inSarajevo with Smail Cekic, the Head of the Srebrenica Working Group’s Investigative Sub Group.  Discussion focused on the remaining information that the Srebrenica Working Group needs to receive from the RS Ministries of Interior and Defence before the Working Group’s task can be judged to be completed.

Mr. Cekic identified the still outstanding issues, which he will present at the next session of the Srebrenica Working Group scheduled for 22 September. The Working Group will thus be in a position to identify everything that remains to be done.

“These issues must be addressed before the end of September. I expect full co-operation from the RS Ministries of Interior and Defence,” said Ambassador Ney. “There are now just ten days left. As the Working Group depends on the cooperation of the Government, it remains the responsibility of the RS Prime Minister to ensure that the Srebrenica Working Group mandate is completed successfully by the end of the month.”
