Purpose and Scope of the Position:
Within the framework of the case-based track of the Serious Crime Unit (SCU) strategy, co-ordinate and guide investigations undertaken by the appropriate local investigation agencies with a view towards developing corruption and fraud cases for prosecution. This position includes developing and preparing information that can be used as a basis for case development, support on-going investigations and/or support the general decision-making process of the High Representative. This means also establishing and maintaining relationships with both local and international institutions and agencies involved in the investigation and prosecution of economic crime with a view towards improving capacities and methods.
Duties and Responsibilities:
§ Collect information and develop information network for cases and the general work of the OHR and Serious Crime Unit;
§ Coordinate under the supervision of the SCU Sarajevo with international agencies in information-sharing and case development;
§ Support systemic reform through other activities undertaken by the Serious Crime Unit in this regards, including the development of strategies and legislation;
§ Assist and support the prosecution of cases as required;
§ Represent the SCU when required.
Professional Requirements / Qualifications:
§ Minimum experience – at least 10 years of investigative experience, including experience in economic crime and/or corruption;
§ A background in law enforcement is preferable, especially with experience of undertaking investigations in an international environment;
§ Very good interpersonal skills to interact with both international and local experts;
§ Strong personal commitment to peace implementation and anti-fraud/corruption acts in BiH. Knowledge of BIH political situation/environment is highly recommended.;
§ Willingness to work long hours and in team;
§ Good English speaking and writing skills required.
