HR meets with ICTY Chief Prosecutor

High Representative Valentin Inzko met today with Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and exchanged views on progress related to ongoing trials and appeals at the ICTY. The High Representative and the ICTY Chief Prosecutor highlighted the importance of the prosecution of war crimes cases in Bosnia and Herzegovina and further encouraged cooperation among the states in the region in the prosecution of war crimes cases.

They said that the processing of war crimes is crucial for reconciliation and stability in this country and citizens of BiH have the right to see justice done.

The High Representative and the ICTY Chief Prosecutor also expressed their strong support for the State Court and Prosecutor’s office and highlighted the need for entity institutions to further develop mechanisms and capacities to try war crimes cases.
