High Representative Provides Support to BiH War Crimes Chamber
The High Representative, Paddy Ashdown, in accordance with the BiH Law on the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, last week appointed Jose Ricardo De Prada Solaesa and Finn Lynghjem as Judges of the War Crimes Chamber of both the Criminal and Appellate Divisions of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Nicholas Koumijian as a Prosecutor in the Special Department for War Crimes in the BiH Prosecutor’s Office.
The High Representative also appointed Maria Jesus Moya Martinez as a Prosecutor in the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption in the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia andHerzegovina.
The High Representative’s Decisions state that before taking up their official duties, each judge and prosecutor must take a solemn oath before the President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina to uphold the rule of law and to protect the freedoms and rights of individuals granted by the BiH constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights.
