Today the Supervisor of Brcko, Ambassador Henry L. Clarke handed over a donation of medical equipment, worth 84,000 KM, to the Brcko District Hospital. The equipment is one of many donations from the US State Department as part of the Brcko Supervisor’s Quick Impact program. The equipment includes pieces for the Pediatrics and Maternity Units, as well as Emergency Services.

“The medical equipment that OHR is donating now is going not only to the Brcko Hospital, where we stand today, but also to the three Primary Healthcare Centres in Brcko, Bijela and Maoca. This is because the focus of healthcare in the District is moving from specialized medical care to family-based medicine. I am talking about healthcare starting at community level, healthcare that is preventive rather than ‘last chance’”, said Ambassador Clarke, and added: “The Brcko District Government, together with our international staff, have been working hard to change the way the Healthcare system in the District functions. We want to make sure that the citizens of the Brcko District have equitable access to high quality medical treatment. Everyone wants high quality healthcare when they need it.”

The Supervisor is pleased to be able to respond to real needs in the community. Quality medical treatment is very important to all citizens in the District, and by giving this donation the Supervisor recognizes this be a priority. Ambassador Clarke noted that this was still not nearly enough to satisfy all the needs, but he announced that in a month’s time, OHR would be in the position of making another donation of medical equipment from their American Quick Impact Fund.
