Crishock: Brčko reforms require stronger coordination and firm timelines

PDHR and Brčko District Supervisor Louis Crishock met today with the Brčko District leadership to review the status of longstanding reforms nearing completion as well as development projects essential to strengthen the District’s economic prospects and improve opportunities for all Brčko’s citizens.

During the meeting, Supervisor Crishock and District officials discussed ongoing governance reforms, including the adoption of laws on civil servants and employees in the institutions of District and public administration, together with the laws on salaries. They also assessed progress on major development and infrastructure projects, like road construction, as well as adoption of the necessary spatial and regulatory plans required to facilitate investments and further development.

Supervisor Crishock reminded District officials that the numerous reform and legislative initiatives already underway must not stagnate in endless political or procedural delays.

Citizens and the business community expect decisive action, timely completion, and measurable results. The unfinished policy frameworks and regulatory improvements were introduced to strengthen public services, improve the investment climate, and create employment opportunities. Failure to bring them to completion risks undermining public trust, discouraging potential investors, and slowing economic progress,” he stated.

The Supervisor welcomed leaders’ readiness for dialogue and compromise and encouraged them to continue to show leadership, prioritize coordination, set and observe firm timelines, and invest additional effort to ensure robust implementation of reforms already initiated. All this is essential for continued economic growth, enhanced investor confidence, job creation, and comprehensive socio-economic development in Brčko District.
