On April 25 and 26, 2001, Brcko Law Review Commission hosted a European Commission two-day Seminar on the topic of the Basic Concept of the European Commission Legislation. The special attention was given to the issues of the joint market/ White Paper, covering the features of Law on Prevention of Disloyal Competition, Law on Protection of Consumers and Law on Protection of Environment.

Training was held by Mr. Steen Bruun-Nielsen and it also concerned a step-by-step approach to drafting and checking the compliance of EC legislation.

The seminar was attended by members of the Brcko District Government and the Assembly, members of the Brcko District Basic and Appellate Courts, representatives of the OSCE, UN Development Program (UNDP), European Union Project ‘Obnova’, and the representatives of OHR North Legal and Economic departments.

The purpose for holding the seminar is to ensure that the laws drafted and adopted by the Assembly fully comply with the EC standards. This is the first initiative by the Brcko Law Review Commission to begin training the Assembly members and members of the Government in drafting legislation.
