Peace Implementation Council Meets In Brussels today and tomorrow

The Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) will meet in Brussels on Tuesday and Wednesday this week to assess Bosnia and Herzegovina’s progress in implementation of the Dayton-Paris peace accords and overall political situation in the county.

In light of this the PIC will consider the future of the OHR. From the PIC Steering Board Political Directors we expect clear strategy for BiH, assessment of the situation and position of IC in Bosnia and Herzegovina. At this moment we can not talk about details as we will have to wait for PIC to finish its work and then we will have it all published in Communiqué.

Tomorrow morning the PIC will meet with BiH’s executive authorities; BiH Presidency members Zeljko Komsic, Haris Silajdzic and Nikola Radmanovic and the Chair of the BIH Council of Ministers, Nikola Spiric and his deputies, Tarik Sadovic and Dragan Vrankic. Tomorrow afternoon the PIC will meet with the leaders of the six coalition parties.

A number of media opportunities will be offered over these two days —

Today at 18.00: A photo opportunity at the start of the meeting of Steering Board Political Directors

08.45 on Wednesday 27 February: A photo opportunity at the start of the meeting of Steering Board Political Directors with the BiH Presidency Members and Chair and Deputy Chairs of the Council of Ministers

At 15.30 on Wednesday 27 February the High Representative, Miroslav Lajcak will hold a press conference to outline the conclusions of the PIC meeting.

All media opportunities will take place at the Council of the European Union.

Pictures from each of these events will be available on the OHR web page. We expect the PIC to release a communiqué after it meeting and we will be making this available to you on Wednesday afternoon.

Journalists wishing to attend the media opportunities I have described but not accredited by the Council of the European Union are asked to provide their names, passport numbers and the media outlet they are working for to Sasa Rajacic at the OHR/EUSR Press Office either by telephone (+387 33 283 918) or by fax (+387 33 283 919) not later than 13.00 today.

Lajcák responds on www.reci.ba

And finally, I wish to draw your attention to the webpage www.reci.ba which we have launched within the campaign on the European perspectives of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On this webpage, you will find four new video statements by the High Representative and EU Special Representative, where he answers citizens’ questions with regard to indroducing religious instruction into public education institutions, political establishment of BiH, European Union standards and proposal for decentralization of BiH institutions. We have also prepared for you a transcript of his answers, which you can obtain after the press conference.
