Statement by High Representative Christian Schmidt on the passing of former Mostar Mayor Ljubo Bešlić

“It is with sadness that I note the passing yesterday of former City of Mostar Mayor Ljubo Bešlić. He had the distinction of being the first mayor of the unified city, which was no easy task. Mayor Bešlić cooperated closely with the Office of the High Representative, and under difficult circumstances endeavored in the interests of all Mostarians, even when his health was failing. I offer my sympathies to his family and his colleagues. He will be missed.”
