Professional data:

  • Joined the Spanish Foreign Service in 1973.
  • Chief of Bilateral Relations in the General Directorate of Cultural Relations and Chief in charge of the section of publications and cultural material, during 1974 and 1975.
  • Secretary of the Spanish Embassy in Washington, in charge of the relations with Latin America, from 1976 to 1979.
  • Director of South America in the General Directorate of Latin America, from 1979 to 1982.
  • Counselor Minister of the Spanish Embassy in Mexico, from 1982 to 1986.
  • Director of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean in the General management of Latin America, from 1986 to February 1987.
  • General Director of Cultural and Scientific relations in the Foreign Affairs Ministry from 1987 to April 1991.
  • General Director of "Casa de America" in Madrid, from April 1991 to February 1994.
  • Spanish Ambassador to the Republic of Gabon, from Augusy 1994 to present.
  • Spanish Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Saint Tome and Principe, with multiple accreditation, from January 1995 to present.

 

Other functions

  • Member of the Spanish Delegation in UNESCO.
  • Co-president of the Joint Spanish - North American Committee and of the Fulbright Commission.
  • President of the Patronage of the Fine Arts Academy in Rome.
  • President of the Patronage of the San Clemente College of Spaniards in Bologna.
  • Member of the CIEMAT Council.
  • General Co-ordinator of the SEFARAD 92’ program of the National Commission of the 5th Centenary.
