Deputy Minister of Interior, Jozo Leutar, and two of his colleagues. Members
extend their sympathies to the families of the victims and offer their best
wishes for the full recovery of the injured .
The Steering Board calls on the local authorities to urgently take the
necessary steps to identify, apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators of this
appalling crime.
The Steering Board urges all sides to maintain calm and not to jump to any
rash and premature conclusions regarding the possible motivation of this act. An
investigation is under way which the Steering Board hopes will lead to the swift
indictment of the perpetrators.
The Steering Board condemns in the strongest possible terms all acts of
terrorism, and warns that such acts will not go unpunished .
The Steering Board also takes this opportunity to warn against the
exploitation of this criminal act for political ends, especially the suggestion
that it somehow renders impossible the co-existence for the peoples of Bosnia
and Herzegovina. It would be highly irresponsible to use this act as a pretext
or excuse for blocking the work of any of the institutions, either at entity or
at state level.
