The Ambassadors of the Peace Implementation Council’s Steering Board welcome the initiative by parties in the BiH Parliament to give all former residents of Srebrenica the opportunity to vote in this municipality in the autumn 2008 elections, regardless of where they are residing now on the condition that they register in the voters’ list of the Srebrenica municipality.

 Both houses of the BiH Parliament will consider these changes in the BiH Election Law on Wednesday, May 7.

 Adoption of such an amendment would take into account the human tragedy of Srebrenica and should be seen as a gesture of good will. Srebrenica can turn from a symbol of tragedy into a symbol of political wisdom, responsibility and economic progress.

 The PIC Ambassadors strongly encourage all political parties to work together in support of this initiative.
