Meeting today in Sarajevo the Ambassadors of the Peace Implementation Council’s ( PIC) Steering Board called on BiH’s parties to refocus their energy and effort on securing the reforms that this country urgently requires. Reform of BiH’s constitution is clearly a headline issue as a functional State is crucial for this country’s future in Europe.

The PIC’s Steering Board expressed a firm wish that BiH’s newly elected politicians build on the willingness expressed in April and resume quickly the process of Constitutional Reform.. The Steering Board welcomed the positive comments made already by leading politicians about taking this reform forward. The package of constitutional amendments received strong support from the international community as a means of improving BiH’s current system. Passing this package would lay the foundations for a further process of constitutional reform to create a better institutional framework for Bosnia and Herzegovina on its way to Europe.
