Person of the Day: Wolfgang Petritsch”Deserves Recognition for the European Image of BiH”

The High Representative deserves the greatest tribute for the fulfilment of the largest part of the conditions set before our country on the road leading to European integration

The High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch, welcomed yesterday in Strasbourg the results of the vote in the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly, which recommended that the Committee of Ministers approve Bosnia and Herzegovina’s request for admission to membership of the oldest European institution.

The High Representative deserves most of the recognition for the fulfilment of pre-conditions set before BiH and for the European image our country has been gaining with difficulty. Tribute for the imposition of laws which were necessary for accession to the European institution must also be paid to him. Thanks to Petritsch’s engagement, our country is getting the attributes it really needs. And yesterday, while addressing the Parliamentary Assembly, the High Representative supported the State of BiH.

Expressing his confidence in BiH authorities, Petritsch repeatedly insisted on the argument that our country belonged to the family of European states.

The High Representative said that BiH’s admission to the Council of Europe would support progressive political forces in the country, which can realistically expect such support from their European partners.

At this moment, which is a historic one for BiH, the Austrian diplomat once again demonstrated his commitment
