by the Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegovic, Kresimir Zubak and Momcilo Krajisnik, held their first preliminary meeting today, in order to agree upon their further work on the implementation of the Peace Agreement as signed in Paris December 14,1995.

The members of the Presidency once again jointly confirmed their commitment and obligation to uphold and defend the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The members of the Presidency started to discuss the setting up of the new Council of Ministers, with the aim of completing this before October 30. This is important in order to be able to start discussions with the international financial institutions on aid for the reconstruction of all of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the coming years. They also started discussions on the setting up of the other institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The members of the Presidency agreed to contribute to the establishment of a positive political climate during their public appearances, as well as to confidence and tolerance among peoples. They invited the media to follow them in this.

They agreed to use equally all three languages and both alphabets in their public communications.

It has been agreed that the responsible authorities will immediately establish telecommunication links among the members of the Presidency.

The members of the Presidency agreed to issue orders to the responsible authorities that, with the assistance of ICRC, they should immediately release all prisoniers with the exception of those whom Court Procedures in The Hague have been initiated.

It has been agreed that the inaugural session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and of the Presidency will be held on 5 October in Sarajevo. Details on the venue and protocol for the session will be established subsequently through the good offices of the Office of the High Representative.
