  • Born on 4 November 1947 in Hanoï (Vietnam).
  • Married, has two sons.

I)  Military Career:          

1968 - 1985

Graduate officer at the Military Academy “Ecole Militaire Interarmes de Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan”.

Officer in the branch of the “French Marines” (Troupes de Marine). 

Has served in some countries overseas.

Colonel in the Reserve Forces.

II)   Diplomatic Career:          

1985 – 1987:  

Joined Diplomatic Service (Paris).

Desk officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of Angola, Mozambique, Botswana, and Zambia.(France)     

1987 – 1988:  

Embassy Tananarive, First Secretary Political. (Madagascar)

1988 – 1990:

Embassy Moroni, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission. (Comoros Islands)

1990 – 1992:  

Embassy Beirut, Senior Political Counsellor. (Lebanon) 

In charge, inter alia, of Palestinian issue (refugee camps and humanitarian affairs).   

1992 – 1994:  

Embassy Bamako, Deputy Head of Mission.(Mali)

1994 – 1996

Appointed as “Vice-Governor” (Sous-Préfet) to the prefectoral administration in the department of “Eure et Loir”.(France)

1996 – 1998:  

Embassy Bujumbura, Head of Mission for bilateral cooperation and cultural affairs. (Burundi)                     

1998 – 2001:

Embassy Bogota, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission.(Colombia)

September - December 2001:

Permanent Mission of France to the United Nations in New York.  Senior Counsellor in charge of the department of political affairs during the 56th Session of the UN General Assembly.(United States)

December 2001:

Appointed as Ambassador, Deputy High Representative to present position in Mostar. (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
