EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Jan99/Nov00 - Special Envoy of the High Representative to the Doboj Municipalities.

Responsible directly to the High Representative for the implementation of the civilian aspects of the Dayton Peace Agreement in the Bosnian Serb non-compliant municipality of Doboj (Republika Srpska) and the Federation municipalities of Doboj(South) and Doboj(East). Additionally responsible for the co-ordination of the international community (SFOR,UNHCR,UNCA,OSCE, various NGOs) in the region. Maintained contact with and directed local municipal and entity officials. Reported to the Office of the High Representative, Political Divisions in Sarajevo and Banja Luka on the political and social situation

Jun96/Jun97 - Station Commander and Deputy District Commander UNIPTF

Commanded the United Nations International Police Task Force station in Banja Luka for six months. Promoted to Deputy District Commander, Banja Luka District. As station commander was responsible for the operation and management of the largest IPTF station in Bosnia. Managed a complement of fifty monitors and sixteen locally engaged staff. Principal responsibility was to ensure local Bosnian Serb police adhered to recognized human rights policies. Interacted daily with local police commanders and maintained liaison with leaders of local ethnic minorities (Croats and Bosniacs)

Deputy District Commander duties entailed being operationally responsible for six IPTF stations and three sub-stations. This required constant contact and cooperation with SFOR (MND SW) headquartered in Banja Luka and the various local Chiefs of Police.

CANADIAN GOVERNMENT

34 years service in various Government Departments. Served 15 years in a number of diplomatic missions.
