The Bonn Peace Implementation Conference
demanded that by 20 December, the competent authorities in BiH, submit to the
printer agreed designs for the common currency coupons and announce the
time-table for their introduction. According to Article 42 of the Central Bank
Law, the competent authority in this case is the Governing Board of the Central
Bank deciding with the approval of the Presidency of BiH.
There has been a technical delay in the printing of models which will provide
the basis for the final approval by the Presidency. At this point, the Governor
of the Central Bank is working with the printer on completing models based on
design elements already agreed. Since the prints are unlikely to be available
before the start of the holidays, the High Representative has decided upon
request of Governor Nicholl, to extend the deadline and to reconsider the
situation by 20 January 1998.
