„It is high time to stop the propaganda campaign against ‘Transparency
International’ and allow independent judicial institutions to investigate any
allegations in accordance with principles of due process and impartiality”,
Principal Deputy High Representative Raffi Gregorian said today after meeting
with the acting Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office, Milorad
Barasin.
During the meeting, PDHR handed over to the acting Chief Prosecutor a letter
received on 6 February, describing a detailed plan for discrediting
‘Transparency International BiH’. At the time, this information seemed
ludicrous. However, last week’s events have shown that the described plan is in
fact being carried out.
As the letter was received anonymously, it could not be acted upon until the
author revealed himself. Now that Mr Dragomir Babic has come out as its author,
PDHR has decided to hand the letter over to the State Prosecutor as possible
evidence.
The acting Chief Prosecutor stressed that the BiH’s Prosecutor’s Office
received neither a report of criminal acts nor any witness statements alleging
racketeering by representatives of ‘Transparency International’. “Should we
receive any such report from the RS police, we will act in line with the law, as
we do in other cases”, the acting Chief Prosecutor said.
