Mennuti: Mostar is a positive and encouraging example in BiH

Principal Deputy High Representative (PDHR) and Brčko District Supervisor Jonathan Mennuti visited Mostar on Thursday for the first time in his official capacity as the PDHR. He used this opportunity to hold introductory meetings with representatives of the city administration and political parties.

In separate meetings with the Chief Advisor of the Mostar City Administration Radmila Komadina and President and Vice President of the Mostar City Council, Salem Marić and Velibor Milivojević, PDHR Mennuti inquired about the work of the city administration and key challenges they are facing.

PDHR Mennuti said that Mostar looks like a positive and encouraging example in BiH, owing to a renewed commitment by the entire administration to work together on preserving the city’s cohesion and as a symbol of multi-cultural life. He urged his interlocutors to invest greater efforts into tackling corruption and nepotism in public sector employment, and creating conditions for young people to stay and live in Mostar.

Mennuti also had separate meetings with HDZ BiH President Dragan Čović and HRS BiH President Slaven Raguž to exchange views on the current political situation and the outcome of the General Elections, as well as on post-election reform priorities to move the country forward.

At the end of his visit, PDHR Mennuti visited the Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar that was damaged in an act of vandalism last June. Mennuti underscored the importance of honoring BiH’s anti-fascist heritage and urged the authorities to find a sustainable solution to secure this location in the future.
