High Representative pushes BiH reforms during U.N. General Assembly in New York

The High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch, held a series of high level meetings during the United Nations General Assembly in New York to push his three priority issues of refugee returns, economic reform and institution building in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov gave the High Representative his full support for his work in BiH. Their discussions focused on the three priorities, progress in Brcko and reform of BiH defence.

The High Representative also met the Chairperson-in-Office of the OSCE, Austrian Foreign Minister Benita Ferrero-Waldner; Turkish Foreign Minister Ismail Cem; and the Foreign Ministers of the Central European Initiative. He also held in-depth discussions with the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Richard Holbrooke.

The High Representative received full support for his reform agenda in Bosnia and Herzegovina, aimed at ensuring the speedy implementation of the Dayton Peace Accords signed five years ago in Paris.
