High Representative Advocates Continuing International Support for BiH

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s road to a stable and prosperous future can be unblocked if the political leaders of the country work hard at reaching compromise and solutions to the benefit of the citizens they represent. The International Community will continue to support positive political initiatives and to prevent moves to challenge or undermine the state, the High Representative said during meetings with Lithuanian Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Andrius Krivas in Vilnius today and Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics in Riga on Monday.

“An overwhelming majority of citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina want their political leaders to accelerate efforts towards fulfilling international commitments and ensure that their country keeps apace with the rest of the region. Euro-Atlantic requirements open the way to a stable and prosperous future for Bosnia and Herzegovina. A breakthrough is vital to get the country back on track”, the High Representative said.

As part of his Baltic tour, Valentin Inzko also met with senior officials in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The meetings were an opportunity for the High Representative to make the case for continuing international support for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
