Decision on the names of geographic locations for use by the Council of Ministers

In view of the request expressed by the Council of Ministers in its meeting on 25 February 1999, in regards of the Decision of Categorisation of Border Crossings,

and

In accordance with my authority under Annex 10 of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina (GFAP) and article XI of the Bonn document,

I do hereby take the following

DECISION

Whenever the name of any geographical location within Bosnia and Herzegovina is disputed within the Council of Ministers, this decision shall apply;

The location shall be referred to as follows;

  • for texts in the English language or in any of the local languages, its name as of 1991 followed by its current name. Whenever two names for a location are used pursuant to this decision, the two names will be separated by a slash.
  • The current name of any location shall be understood to mean the name in common usage at and in the immediate vicinity of the location.

This decision shall apply as long as any such name continues to be disputed within the Council of Ministers.
