Principal Deputy High Representative Bruce G. Berton met yesterday in Sarajevo with former High Representative and now Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia Miroslav Lajcak. The discussion focused on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Principal Deputy High Representative Berton outlined the obligation of all political stakeholders in BiH to fully respect the Dayton Peace Agreement. “The proposed RS referendum is a serious and direct challenge to the Peace Agreement that must be put aside immediately,” said Principal Deputy High Representative Berton and expressed his expectation that the new EU initiative for BiH will give a new impulse to long overdue reforms and BiH’s faster progress on its Euro-Atlantic path.
