Statement by Mr. Carl Bildt,
High Representative

I would urge President Milosevic to recognise the findings of the OSCE Mission led by Mr. Gonzalez. I call upon the authorities in Belgrade to exercise the greatest restraint in connection with the demonstrations which continue in peace and dignity day by day, and I am deeply disturbed by the reports of violence in reaction to these demonstrations in recent days. The development of democracy in Serbia is of crucial importance for peace and stability throughout the region.
