Press Release

At the end of the meeting between the HDZ and SDA City Boards ofMostar on May 29, the HDZ Chief’ Mile Puljic asked those present not to give any detailed public statements but only to inform the press that the negotiations will continue on Monday. On his request, this was agreed between all participants. Therefore, the Office of the High Representative in Mostar is very disappointed that Mr Branko Rajic, the Secretary of the City Administration, did not respect the agreement made during the meeting or the wish of his own party leader, and gave a public statement distorting the facts and the discussion held in the meetings. The written proposal made by Sir Martin Garrod and delivered to the parties on May 28 was exactly on the line of the discussions during the meeting on that day. In the meeting on May 29 no new proposal, as Mr Rajic stated, was given by Sir Martin Garrod. Statements like that of Mr Branko Rajic are not helpful at all in the difficult negotiations. The Office of the High Representative in Mostar hopes that the serious approach to the negotiations by all participants can be re-established.
