Press Release

Sir Martin Garrod, the Head of the Regional Office of the High Representative in Mostar, strongly condemns and deeply deplores the incident that occurred in the Hotel Ero on Saturday, 18 January 1997. It was provoked by Mr. Dalibor Glavina who was obviously drunk and threatened other guests in the Hotel. Glavina had entered the Hotel with a clearly visible pistol. even though it is strictly forbidden to non authorised persons to carry weapons in the building. The UPFM located in the Hotel are obliged to take away weapons from persons entering the building.

Sir Martin Garrod has contacted IPTF asking for measures to be taken in order to prevent such incidents in the future. The OHR Sarajevo and the political authorities in Mostar have also been informed.

The Head of the Regional Office of the High Representative is most concerned that there are men like Dalibor Glavina who are able to walk around Mostar armed. He therefore urges the police forces of Mostar to ensure that Mr. Glavina, and others like him, are not under any circumstances armed.
