High Representative Meets FBiH Vice Presidents

Without in any way prejudging the outcome of the ongoing investigation into President Budimir the High Representative, Valentin Inzko, today welcomed the readiness of the police officials, prosecutors and judges to tackle corruption at the highest levels and to take action against senior officials and politicians.

“It is vitally important that we give the competent institutions the time and space they need to apply the Law,” the High Representative said. “There can be no interference in the investigation”.

Meeting with Vice Presidents Mirsad Kebo and Svetozar Pudaric the High Representative listened to their views on how the FBiH can function during President Budimir’s pre-trial detention. The current situation is having a negative impact on the functioning of the Office of the President, and the High Representative and the Vice Presidents discussed the Constitutional provisions relevant to this situation.

In relation to the political situation in the FBiH the High Representative said that while parties may continue to pursue the reshuffling of the government, as they have a clear and legitimate right to do so, they must respect the relevant constitutional and legal procedures.
