HR Valentin Inzko meets the President of Slovenian Parliament Janko Veber

High Representative Valentin Inzko met the President of Parliament of Slovenia Janko Veber.

High Representative Inzko said after the meeting with President Veber that Slovenia’s willingness to continue developing a constructive partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina is an invaluable asset. “Slovenia understands the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and can therefore be an important advocate of BiH’s interests in the international community”, said High Representative Inzko,

High Representative also underlined that Slovenia can serve as a model for Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially when it comes to integration of the country into international structures. He pointed out that Slovenia underwent a serious of reforms in the past, many of them applicable also to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The High Representative said there was a high degree of appreciation in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the solidarity that has been shown by Slovenia, through its contribution to peacekeeping and post-war recovery, through its diplomatic support.

“I am convinced that, if we can overcome the current political deadlock, Bosnia and Herzegovina can catch up with the rest of the region and move forward – also with the help of Slovenia,” the High Representative said. “This is a matter of the utmost urgency, because as long as the political deadlock continues it will be hard to revive the economy and stop the totally unacceptable decline in living standards.”
