Inzko meets Ban Ki-moon

Political leaders have failed to deliver concrete progress in Bosnia and Herzegovina over the last six months, while senior officials from Republika Srpska continue to challenge the Peace Agreement, as well as the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the state, High Representative Valentin Inzko told UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in New York today.

The High Representative expressed his expectation that parties and candidates refrain from the divisive rhetoric of the past in the run-up to the elections, as such rhetoric only serves to divert attention from the concrete issues which citizens want their elected representatives to resolve. Those running for office should explain to voters how they propose to fight corruption, improve the economic climate and take the country forward in the processes of Euro-Atlantic integration.

Following the presentation of his six-monthly report on peace implementation to the Security Council yesterday, the High Representative was meeting with the UN Secretary General to brief him directly on the situation on the ground in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
