Inzko: Right now is the time for cooperation and turning towards the future

After yesterday’s attack on Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić in Potočari, where the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Srebrenica genocide took place, the High Representative of the International Community in BiH, Valentin Inzko, gave the following statement:

“I strongly condemn the attack on Prime Minister Vučić, that took place in Potočari yesterday, on the day we pay tribute not only to the victims in Srebrenica, but also to all innocent victims in BiH and the whole region.

I expect the competent authorities to carry out an urgent investigation and prosecute the perpetrators in accordance with the law.

The future lies in the continuation of the processes leading to reconciliation, tolerance, mutual respect and overall progress. I support all those who have clearly, through their statements, demonstrated their commitment to say ‘no’ to hatred, and by that I mean in the first place Prime Minister Vučić, who extended his hand to Bosniaks, the mothers of Srebrenica, Mayor Duraković, as well as the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Now is the moment, like never before, to intensify mutual relations and cooperation – primarily between Sarajevo and Belgrade, within BiH, but also in the entire region. It is necessary that we all turn to the future, in order to make it better, in particular for younger generations. The international community, as well as a huge majority of citizens in BiH and the region, will not give up this goal.”
