Supervisor Scanlan praises Brčko authorities’ handling of COVID-19 crisis

Principal Deputy High Representative and Brčko District Supervisor Michael Scanlan held an online meeting today with the Brčko Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker, Esed Kadrić and Ivo Filipović, and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Siniša Milić and Anto Domić. The Supervisor congratulated Brčko officials, their associates and all of the dedicated staff of Brčko District institutions, on their handling of the COVID-19 crisis so far, both in terms of immediate actions to limit the spread of the disease, as well as their commitment to medium- and long-term measures to mitigate the medical and economic consequences of this pandemic.

The Supervisor underscored the importance of cooperation, respect, openness and transparency in dealing with this crisis. “The goal now is for everyone to work together to overcome the medical crisis and afterwards get Brčko back on the path of growth as soon as possible. In this crisis, there are no individual winners or losers. Either the community as a whole will prevail, or everyone will suffer the consequences. I am confident that Brčko authorities will continue their exemplary work for the benefit of the entire community.”

Supervisor Scanlan assured Brčko officials that he, the High Representative, and the rest of the International Community will continue to be engaged in making sure that Brčko is included in all solutions for assisting BiH. This is not an individual fight, as the entire country is now facing the same challenge, added the Supervisor. He urged authorities and citizens to follow diligently the advice from experts and medical professionals.
